Henrietta Republicans cancel candidate forum

The League of Women Voters was forced to cancel a nonpartisan candidate forum in Henrietta after all the Republican candidates refused to participate. Our Democratic candidates, including Michael Yudelson for Supervisor, Rob BarleyMike Stafford for Town Board, and Simeon Banister for Monroe County Legislature (District 13) had each accepted the invitation.

This is more bad news from Jack Moore and the Republicans. Henrietta residents were again denied the opportunity to meet and hear from all the candidates together.

The League of Women Voters mailed invitations to candidates more than 2 weeks in advance of the event, originally scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22. The Henrietta Republicans flat out rejected the offer and even refused to suggest an alternative, indicating they have no desire to share the stage with their Democratic challengers.

We were looking forward to discussing the important issues facing Henrietta. We hope our Republican colleagues will reconsider and agree to join us for a discussion with voters before Election Day.
