Jam for Julie

"I met Julie last fall at Rochester for Obama events.  I was impressed then, and still am, by the amount of energy and creativity she has and her ability to get things done.  She is one of the most "can-do" people I have ever met!" Linda Reilly

An August 30th "Jam for Julie" benefit supported Julie Behlok as Democratic candidate for Henrietta Town Council.  U.S. Representative Eric Massa (D-NY) appeared and encouraged Henrietta residents to support Julie's campaign.

Julie Behlok addressed the crowd with this challenge:“If we become complacent and don't involve ourselves on all levels of government, you get what you get. But if you put your energy behind someone who wants Democrats to have a seat at the table and wants to create beneficial change,  we can't lose.”

Musicians No Boundaries and Mark Fantasia donated their time and talent for the event. Presently the Town of Henrietta bans all live music so the event had to be held at Mendon Ponds Park. If elected, Julie Behlok would like to allow special permits for live music in town parks.  This could both generate income for the town and promote local arts.

Julie Behlok held a High Tea celebration commemorating the 79th Anniversary of women's right to vote, or National Equality Day, on August 26. Historically, community organizers like Susan B. Anthony held teas to meet with others who wished to improve their communities. At the event, Julie shared a time line of the Suffrage movement to show how far American women have come.  Julie wants to not only improve her community but make History for the town of Henrietta when elected.
