Travis Heider serves the residents of the 14th District, having experience working with state and local government, higher education, and the non-profit sector. Currently, he spends his days fighting for people with diabetes as the Senior Market Director for the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is a leading cause of heart disease and afflicts over 18 million Americans. Travis is proud to have successfully managed his team of ten employees last year in raising $1.5 million to fight this disease and find a cure.

Prior to this, Travis served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to then New York State Senator Richard Dollinger. Travis not only learned how government works, he acquired a vital understanding of the issues facing our neighbors in Brighton and Henrietta. Moreover, he gained an insider’s perspective on how to succeed on issues in Albany. Travis looks forward to using this ability to negotiate with State Government on behalf of local taxpayers.

He has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at St. John Fisher College, Springfield College, and Holyoke Community College, as well as served on the steering committee of the Coalition for Common Sense in Education. A Member of the Sierra Club and a longtime member of the Brighton Democratic Committee, he has managed several local political campaigns and worked in municipal government as an aquatics director.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Geneseo and did graduate work at Springfield College.

But with his wife, Emily, Travis shares his proudest accomplishment: his one year old son, Jackson. They are members of St. Thomas’ Episcopal church in Brighton.

As a county legislator, Travis uses his skills and energy to lead, not follow. He’s determined to move our economy forward. He's passionate about stemming the exodus of young professionals. Travis Heider has the ideas, energy and experience we need to build a more prosperous future.
